Low Phosphorus Dog Food

Low Phosphorus Dog Food

When my older dog was diagnosed with a condition at the vets, one of the first things we did was get him put on a low phosphorus dog food diet.As many pet owners know, sometimes pets need to get put on special diets. Vet food can be really expensive. At the same time, I found that it is easy to find what I needed at a much less expensive prices online. The key is to really shop around for it.

Do your homework because not every source I read through online was really 100 percent correct. I did confer with my vet when I did find a brand that had what my dog needs. They gave me the okay to go ahead and feed my dog this brand.

Most commercial brands will put about 2 percent phosphorus in their foods. Look for products with labels that show the content as being about .06 percent phosphorus and you will be good to go. You want to make sure you get your vet’s okay, but really if your vet cares about your dog – and they should – they won’t mind you buying your special food online. Plus, my dog loves his special food!
