I switched to a lead free crock pot after I saw a new report about crock pots that really scared me. The report talked about how many old crock pots had impurities that would leach into the food while cooking it, with one of them being lead. I can’t remember how old my crock pot is, but I’ve had it for quite a long time. I didn’t want to take any chances of getting sick, so I looked for a lead free one that could replace my old one.
I found some online recommendations for various crock pots. Some of them were pretty cheap, but they weren’t big enough for me. I like to put large pieces of meat and large portions of rice in my crock pot. Having something smaller would mean that I would have to cook my meat in smaller portions or cook less rice. I prefer not to do that, because it would make increase my cooking time.
I found a really neat crock pot that has a bowl made of stainless steel, and actually can be used as a pressure cooker. There are so many things that can be cooked in it that you normally wouldn’t associate with a crock pot. I’ve prepared a whole lasagna meal all at once in the pot.
